I’ina Counseling Services at the Indian Health Service has one open position for the 2025-26 training year.

I’ina Counseling Services, located in the Northern Navajo Medical Center, consists of a multidisciplinary team focused on providing evidence-based and culturally appropriate care for American Indian/Native American clients. The intern participates in year-long concurrent rotations of outpatient mental health, psychological assessment, and behavioral health integration/triage, with a special emphasis on infant mental health and behavioral health integration within the pediatric outpatient clinic, including primary and secondary screening and comprehensive assessment for ASD.

Internship Aim

The aim of the New Mexico Psychology Internship Consortium (NM-PIC) is to prepare and retain high quality and culturally competent psychologists to provide collaborative public mental health care for the diverse children, adolescents, and adults of New Mexico.


General Information

The New Mexico Psychology Internship Consortium (NM-PIC) represents the collaborative effort of four agencies, Hidalgo Medical Services in Silver City, I’ina Counseling Services at Indian Health Services in Shiprock, the New Mexico Behavioral Health Institute in Las Vegas, and the Los Alamos National Laboratory in Los Alamos, to share resources and faculty to provide a quality educational program for psychology doctoral interns focusing on culturally relevant and responsive treatment to New Mexico residents of all ages.


 


Accreditation

NM-PIC is accredited on contingency by the APA.

APPIC Membership: NM-PIC is a member of the Association of Psychology Postdoctoral and Internship Centers (APPIC, #2535), and participates in the APPIC Match Service. NM-PIC agrees to abide by the APPIC policy that no person at this training facility will solicit, accept, or use any ranking-related information from any intern applicant.
